How do I become a 1st AD?
For union work, you’ll want to join the DGA first, that takes 600 days of PAing which you’ll want to document with Call Sheets, PRs, paystubs, and crew lists. Then you’ll work your way up through additional 2nding, 2nd 2nding, Key 2nding, and finally 1sting.
For non-union work, the path might be faster if you can find the shows to hire you.
