The AD Department
What is the AD Department?
The Assistant Director Department is responsible for all departments on set
The Assistant Director (AD) Department is composed of crew members whose goals are to keep the company and cast organized and on the same page while also accomplishing the wishes of the Director. The ultimate goal is to film a project within a specific timeframe, with a happy director, and complete filming in time for post production and then release.
While the camera department concentrates on frames and hardware and the look of the picture, and Props concentrates on the items used by actors in a scene, ADs concentrate on making a workable overarching schedule, calling cast, crew, and filming elements to work on time within that schedule, and moving the crew at a pace to complete all scheduled work for each work day. All while keeping the director happy.
